The Sea

The sea is a sparkling shell glinting in the sun.
The sea is a wavy earthquake, crackling everywhere.
The sea is a sparkling glass of water shining in my eyes.
The sea is a dotted crab crawling up to the shore.
The sea is a polka dotted piece of coral wiggling on my hand.
The sea is a waterfall swirling round and round.
The sea is a jagged crown sinking into the water.
The sea is a frozen ice-cube melting in my mouth.
The sea is a bubbling bath I'm swimming in.
The sea is a swimming pool letting me swim in it.

Moon Shapes

The moon is a golden ring spinning around the earth.
The moon is a tiara sparkling in the sky.
The moon is a shining yo-yo bouncing up and down.
The moon is a yummy pancake.
The moon is a yellow worm wiggling on my hand.
The moon is a warm bed.
The moon is a ringing telephone.
The moon is a shining crystal in the sky.
The moon is a twirling sunflower dancing in the sky.
The moon is a flying rocket ship blasting across the night sky.

Pop, Pop, Pop!

Pop, Pop, Pop!

Popcorn looks like hopping rabbits jumping in the pot.
Popcorn reminds me of the movies when it is melted with butter.
Popcorn feels like warm butter sliding off my hands.
Popcorn smells like the butter camouflaging the air.
Popcorn tastes like melted butter on my slimy tongue.
Popcorn sounds like fireworks bursting.
I love popcorn!

Our School Trip

Our School Trip

Wa-hooo! All of Kuranui School and Lee and Kim get to go to Matamata New World. We learnt that most of the good foods are on the outside isles. Did you know that fruit and vegetables have vitamins and minerals? They are ‘glow’ foods and I completed my worksheet and I learnt on my sheet that you need more vegetables than 5+ a day.
Yay! Now we get delicious Subway, it tasted scrummy and yummy. My brother ate some too and he loved it. I wanted more.
The year threes and Room One went into the Subway shop and looked around. There were some bad drinks and there was only one healthy drink and it was water.
Then we were going to the park and I loved it. We sat on the wood and I had a ham Subway and my brother had one too.
I had a great time at New World!

Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves

Leaves! Leaves!
Dying together, leaving a skeleton like tree standing cold and naked.
Leaves that are skinny, talking and shouting as the wind blows.
Leaves freezing, hugging together in ginormous piles.
Autumn leaves, golden yellow and lighting up the sky.
Autumn leaves scratching in a multi-coloured puddle – ready for me to jump in!

My Naughty Brother, Troy

My Naughty Brother, Troy

Troys’ motorbike broke down.
“How will I get to pre-school?” said Troy.

On Monday he flew on a hawk.

On Tuesday he galloped by horse.

On Wednesday he swung on trees.

On Thursday he drove fast in a car.

On Friday he rode a crab with ginormous
nippers.

On Saturday he fixed his motorbike, now he
could get to pre-school.

Senses

I like the taste of chocolate cake
grizzling in my tummy.

I like smell of strawberries
wafting up my nose.

I like the feel of lamb’s wool
rubbing under my hand.

I like the sound of baby birds
tweeting in the clouds.

I like the look of a rainbow
lighting up the sky.

Remember When..

Remember  when …
Mum  and  Troy  and  I  drove  to  the  Mount  and  Troy and  I  caught  my  team.  We  went  and  had  our  morning  tea  under  a  big,  shady , tree. I scrunched and munched  my  lunch.  Then  Janae’s  dad  picked  up a  live crab  and  it grabbed  the plastic  bag  and  it didn ‘t  let  go
Remember  when  we saw crabs,  some  were  alive  but  some  crab nippers  were  left  behind.  Then  the whole entire school walked to the park. I went up the slide and slid down. Then I found weird things that looked like cups of water. After that we went to Pilot Bay and got to have a swimand a turn in a Kayak. I splashed Alex and it was fun.
Remember when we did our elective. I was in sandcastle building. My sandcastle looked cool as.
Remember when we watched the Queen Elizabeth sail out to the sea. That was our awesome rocky shore trip.

Sea Urchins

Sea Urchins

Sea Urchins are prickly animals that live at the rocky shore. There are lots of different kinds of sea urchins. The Maori name for sea urchin is Kina.

How sea urchins move.
They move with hundreds of little tubed feet. They move very slowly. Sea Urchins cannot swim and can only move across solid surfaces.

Where do they live.
Sea Urchins live in rock pools and deep water and on the sea floor.

What do they eat.
Sea Urchins eat a lot of things like algae, seaweed and carcasses of fish.

What eats them.
Sea otters tend to catch sea urchins and break off their spines. Some people eat them too.

Which sea do they live in.
Sea Urchins live all around the world but they like warm water better.

Why do they live at the rocky shore.
Sea Urchins live at the rocky shore because there are fewer predators there and also there is seaweed and algae to eat.

Sea Urchins are interesting creatures with spines that live at the rocky shore.
